Diorama: Garage Renault 1976 [C'est fini.]

Good Morning!

My latest project is in progress.
It is a diorama of a renault-garage with an elf-gasstation somewhere in France and in the year 1976. (R15 Ph.II will be placed in the little showroom)

First steps:

The building in the rough.

...painting and first decoration (selfmade on the PC)




I am afraid, it will take a lot of time until it is ready but i will show you the progress step by step.

Thanks for your compliments.

For making the roof i used "carton ondulée" sprayed with grey coulor to immidate "tolé ondulée". (i do not find the english words)

Sorry, there is no picture of the original, cause it exists no Garage like this one. It´s a product of my mind, inspired by the impressions at my journey through france and by the following site:

Wich material did you use to make the wall ? Is it light wood ? (balsa in Franch)

For building the walls, i used the backside of an old cupboard.
It´s about 4mm strong and very easy to cut.

Next Step:

Selfmade workshopgates which can be opened and closed.
I used 0,6mm Plexi, cut it in stripes and connect them with thin wire. Atlast i painted them with a paintmarker.

Doors and Floors:

The workshop gates are fixed. It looks good. Does´nt it?



Also i made the floor into the workshop and the showroom.
It is a self-created and printed decor, laminated with a transparent film.

Another question, how have you made the gates ? I'm very impress about the connection betwenn the gate parts and, about the move connection on the top (see the following red circles)

It is very simple.

The elements are connected by transparent adhesive tape with a pice of wire for a better fixing the angle between the elements.

The upper point of fixation is only a hook of the wire, which slides behind the gateframe.

You can see: Simple but it works.



(Some prototypes were neccessary for this solution)

To be perfect It's necessaray to have a double hook, (on the front like your, AND behind the wall) isn't it ? Because, in your case, you can push on the gates and the gate will put out of his range ?

A double hook isn´t necessary, cause the wire runs between the wooden wall and the plexi frame of the gate which isn´t glued on the upper side. So moving is possible only at the side not forward and backward.
With a little sensibility, nothing could happend.

You know, it´s a diorama. The doors will not be opened and closed day by day.
